La Santa Muerte

1,200.00

La Santa Muerte is the unofficial female ‘saint’ of death in Mexico.  She is worshipped by Mexican gangsters seeking protection and safe passage to the afterlife who leave offerings of tequila and cocaine at her shrine in Mexico City.   This version of her features the notorious eyebrows in a nod to La Frida!

In this piece the skull itself is made up of a variety of different natural veneers with an inlaid brass tooth and the head-dress is made up of dyed veneers. It is set in to a background of rippled sycamore with an inlaid brass banding.

This piece is part of a limited run of 10 pictures.  Each one is numbered and varies slightly owing to the different species of veneer and colours used.
