WOOP WOOP ! First marquetry surfboard with stainless steel inlay now delivered! Check it out in the window of Linley's flagship store in Pimlico!
So - we thought that the surfboard needed a companion! So here we have the making-of THE BELLYBOARD !!!
Stand ready - come on down!
So excited about this project - the first WOODPOP SURFBOARD is becoming a reality !! On initial investigation - it looked impossible - wooden surfboards are extremely expensive to make and you can't apply marquetry to complex curves (surfboards being both concave and convex at the same time). But not accepting that it couldn't be done - we embarked on 18 months of research, testing and experimentation, and after a few wrong turns and a lot of sweat and effort - I can happily say - that IT CAN BE DONE AND WE HAVE DONE IT !!! MARQUETRY SURFBOARDS ARE A REALITY! Pics of the finished boards soon . . .
Just finished oiling these huge puppies! 8 ft x 3ft. Big props to Joseph Mackey at Adam Richards Architects for the design. They are going to become the doors of a cupboard / wardrobe masquerading as a room divider.
So all ready and set for London's Design Fair at The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. Just about all set up . . . Trade only on Thurs - then open to public Fri, Sat and Sun.
New stuff all coming together - big up to my main man Arthur Cadman for his expert tutelage and top cabinet-making skills!
Mexico inspires so much of my work. Here are a few photos I've taken this year that showcase what I love about the place.
Extremely chuffed to have two pieces in the super snazzy Signed and Original show this Feb 11th! If you're in London and so inclined, you can request an invite from their website here. Well worth a visit - they curate the most amazing collection of one-off pieces of art and curiosities.
